YOUR AID FOR RESEARCHING AND IDENTIFYING STATIONS!
To help DXers in identifying and researching the possible station(s) they are hearing, we have put together some additional resources. From audible airchecks of unique sounds from Latin America, to data gathered from all of the seasons of our MW Frequency Challenge, it is my hope that this information helps DXers add a new one “to the log”!
AIRCHECKS & audible resources
THE UNIQUE SOUNDS OF LATIN AMERICA
From chimes and bells, to synthesizer stabs and chirping birds, many Latin American radio stations use branding and imaging that are just as good as a DX Test! Audio examples are provided along with detailed write-ups for each station/network.
THE ANTHEMS OF LATIN AMERICA
In Latin America, many countries still play their national anthems at sign-on/sign-off as well as at specific times throughout the day (midnight remains popular). In Mexico, many states have their own anthem. Here, we catalog what you may hear on the air and give details about when to expect to hear these anthems!
DX CENTARL KIWIS
Our collection of KiwiSDRs located in Mandeville, LA provide a great opportunity . Each has antennas that are tuned to perform well on the MW band. Includes a great circle map for each Kiwi/Antenna to identify the highlighted areas of each antenna.
